Bilingual/ESL:
Provide Limited English
Proficient Students equal educational opportunities to participate
and access the standard curriculum across disciplines, using
instruction in English as a second language and the student’s
dominant language in order to ensure academic progress in the
curriculum, until such time as a student is documented as English
proficient.
Foreign Languages:
Provide all students
opportunities to develop linguistic and cultural proficiency in
other languages in addition to English to prepare students to live
and communicate effectively in a pluralistic society.
Instructional Services are designed to:
Bilingual/ESL Education:

Enable all learners
to master English language skills in the four communication
domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing appropriate
to grade, age and developmental level.

Develop strong
academic foundations and self-esteem in all learners integrating
the acquired native cultural and linguistic competencies
throughout the curriculum.
Foreign Languages:

Enable all learners
in grades K-12 to progress in the curriculum of a target world
language following the State’s standards in the areas of
communication, cultures, connections, comparisons, and
communities.

Offer instruction in
target World Languages: Spanish, French, Latin, Japanese,
German, Arabic and Chinese interconnected with the study of
other disciplines.

Provide all learners
an instructional program that offers opportunities to enhance
cultural, personal, and employment potential.
Multilingual Assessment
Center
Provide bilingual
families and students quality customer services in the following:

and placement of newly arrived students

Staff
Staff
consists of high qualified trained native and non-native speakers
of English and the following languages: Albanian, Arabic, African
Dialects, Cambodian, Mandarin, Cantonese, Hindi, Hungarian,
Laotian, Polish, Romanian, Russian, Spanish, Ukrainian, Urdu and
Vietnamese, French, Japanese, and German.
Curriculum
The
curriculum of the Multilingual Multicultural Education Program is
aligned with the state and district standards. Second Language
Learners are held to the same high expectations established for
all students. A focused approach to develop literacy and
proficiency in the native language and the second language in the
domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing is consistent
with expectations for all students.
