Garrett Morgan
Cleveland School of Science Academy, (Grades 9-12), paves the
way to a successful future for your child. We offer a curriculum of
challenging courses with a strong emphasis in math and science. Our
accelerated math and hands-on laboratory science courses provide
students with a solid foundation to continue further studies in
engineering, technology, the sciences, and beyond.. If you are
planning to send your child to college you should first send them to
Garrett Morgan! Failure is not an option and success is a
requirement. Higher expectations, higher standards, nurturing
environment, smaller classrooms, these are all factors that
contribute to the success of Garrett Morgan’s students. Students
have the opportunity to earn college credits and/or an Associate’s
Degree in Applied Technology while in high school, free of charge!
We are
proud to provide an exceptional art program with an accelerated
painting and drawing course. The art club is active around the
community and their work can be seen all over Cleveland.
The school also showcases the sounds of our exemplary 50+ member
orchestra and jazz band.

Garrett Augustus Morgan, Sr.
(March 4, 1877 - August 27, 1963) was an African American inventor who
originated a respiratory protective hood (similar to the modern gas
masks), credited with being the inventor of the traffic light in which
he holds a patent for, and invented a hair-straightening preparation.
He is renowned for a
heroic rescue in which he used his hood to save workers trapped in a
tunnel system filled with fumes. He is credited as the first
African-American in
Cleveland
to own an automobile.
